Chain link fence is perhaps the most common fence and a great choice for perimeter security, playground fencing, enclosing industrial sites, parking lots or acting as barriers along roadways, construction sites, etc.
The chain link fence manufacturing process was invented around 1844 in England by a Charles Barnard who adapted a textile loom to produce wire fencing. By the late 1800’s, the chain link fence found its way to America where it was rapidly adapted as a strong, versatile and easy to install fence.
Since 1963, Hartsell Brothers Fence Company has offered galvanized or vinyl coated chain link fencing in heights ranging between four to twelve feet. Optional vinyl coating comes in your choice of black, green or brown. If privacy is a concern, privacy slats – strips of vinyl in your choice of color, can be woven through the chain link mesh. Fabric windscreen in a variety of colors is also available.
Installation is where Hartsell Brothers Fence Company has a competitive advantage. We always set our fence posts 8-10 feet apart in concrete. We can also plate or sleeve those posts depending on location and specs of the fence. We only use 9-gauge or optional 6-gauge chain link material. Line posts are 2.5” and our corner/end posts are 3”. Some fence companies use less robust material. In addition, top rail for stability and strength is standard along with coil /tension wire or optional bottom rail at the bottom of the fence line. This gives the fence added strength and helps deter break-ins. For heightened security, barbed wire and/or razor ribbon can be added to the top of the fence. This option also adds about 12” to fence height.
